Anyone Use Waterlox On Their Floors?
Soon I'll have to order a finish for my stripped oak floors. Originally they were shellac but I couldn't save it as the foam under the 50(?)-year-old carpet was ground into it in a lot of places. I have cats and on occasion they "yak-up" on the wood floors so I'm thinking I may use something else.
I think Waterlox is suppose hold up better than shellac. I don't like polyurethane floors. My shellac floors and stairs were not very slippery and that is the other big issue.
Anyone have Waterlox floors, are they slippery? Are they holding up well to foot traffic?

I bought waterlox to use on my floors, and haven't used it there yet. I haven't got around to sanding them yet, I have used it on trim, and cabinets. So sorry, that's not too helpful. Can't wait to see the floors though.
We have used Waterlox on the floor of two rooms so far, one in the high traffic living room. It holds up very well, esp to spills and accidents. We mixed stain with the first coat and it took very well. We did not sand the floors, only stripped them, so I don't how the results would differ on a sanded floor, but in an old house (ours is 1885) I would recommend just stripping the floors - they turn out much better. We used the original finish; it is a little shinier than we expected it to be, and it does show scratches (mostly from our 50 and 80 pound dogs, and furniture being pushed around by the kids.) Overall, though, it has held up very well - two young kids, two dogs, and two adults...and a year without an area rug for protection. They can be a little slippery walking on them in socks, but not nearly as bad as Pergo or something like that. I might be a little concerned on stairs, I wonder that the satin may be less slippery? We've only used the original. Good luck!
